  • Overview

If you have a child with someone where the two of you have never been married, then this is for you. By Florida law, the mother is the natural and legal guardian of the child. So, if you don't establish your rights as the parent to this child, the mother can make all of the decisions regarding the child, whether it is medical care, the school they attend, where they live, what kind of extracurricular activities they do, and the list goes on.

If you want to establish your rights as the parent to your biological child, and the two of you have never been married, then you need to file this Petition immediately. Also, please be careful if you have a child with a married woman, as this presents a whole different kind of legal issue.
